Marcus Whitman HS Yearbook 2011 Senior Portrait Section
Everyone wants to look good in the yearbook and here are the specifications that will help everyone look their best in the full color senior portrait section.
1. Give us a 9 x 11 pica print in color.
We require a digital print saved to a CD that is 9 x 11 picas (about 1.5 x 2”)
2. Face Specifications
Head size: 7 picas (which is about 1” to 1 ¼” from the top of the forehead to the bottom of the chin). Should be a head & shoulder pose, ¾ turn to the right. When photos are less than 1” tall it is often hard to identify them in the printed form. Portraits should have a traditional neutral background.
3. Allow plenty of time
We know things get crazy at the last minute. Plan ahead so that the yearbook staff receives the print before Oct. 15, 2010. Keep deadlines in mind and make appointments that give the photographer time to photograph & deliver the digital image/print on time. Only photos received by this deadline will be guaranteed a spot in the senior portrait section.
What isn’t acceptable…
No props, including pets, cars, musical instruments, hands, mirrors, flowers.
No t-shirts, inappropriate emblems or slogans, no hats.
Faces can’t be obscured by clothing or other items.
No photos taken out of doors. Studio lighting provides the best reproducible image.
Images that are blurry, softened or low resolution; images that are of poor quality (this includes Polaroid-type prints, scanned images, copier prints).
The best reproduced images are digital. The yearbook format is produced digitally & digital images are required. No prints or slides.
Specifications that provide the best digital images:

Senior Box Photos & Kindergarten Photos
Seniors have the option of including 1)a casual photo & 2) a kindergarten school pic of themselves (both of which will be in the in the senior section of the yearbook). Senior Box photo can be any appropriate picture of the students choosing. Burn the photos to a CD or scan the photos & save them to a disk/memory stick - this eliminates the original photos being sent to the publisher. If you do not have this capability, bring photos to the art room where the senior can scan and save them to the yearbook files.
Deadline for Sr Box Photos & Kindergarten Photos: 10/15/10.
