Free and Reduced Meal Application
A message from the Food Service Director, Carla Woolston
It saddens me that the Universal Free Meals for all School aged students will end in August 2022. It has been a very beneficial program for our students as well as our families. Food insecurity is a very real and concerning issue.
As September approaches, free and reduced lunch applications will be available in a number of areas. Our website will have a printable version, our school calendar will have a copy, the main office in each building will have copies, and you can email me at cwoolston@mwcsd.org and I will email you a copy of the application. New York State has set aside funds for families that qualify in the reduced category; therefore, there will be no charge for breakfast and lunch. Previously families paid $.25 for each meal.
It is very important for families to fill out an application form for your household. Even if you don’t think you will qualify, please take the time to do the application. The information collected is very important for the district. Our free and reduced rate is used in many areas. One of the major areas is when grants are being written for the district.
I will continue to advocate for our students and families by calling, emailing, and letter writing to our politicians to push for the continuation of Universal free Meals for School Aged Students.
